Re: Scale ignition wires, off topic?

If the piezo units fit the bill, why not. Don't know if they are heat resistant though. Most of the igniters I have seen have their connection outside the heat area. I purchased some wires ready made to fit VK3 plugs at a model show, but couldn't say who made them. In a pinch(cheap!), I have often t...

Re: Keeping with the theme

Well, I had considered a remote keyless entry solenoid. That would be along the lines of power feed.

But...... then I might as well go with a mock digital readout with LOCKED and UNLOCKED from Acu-rite too!

Re: Keeping with the theme

The installation of the lock went as planned. I made some nylon bushings to go into the concrete floor and upper beam. The door also has bushings for the rods to slide in. Bondo was used as a filler to lock the bushings in place. I just put 5 grooves in the bushing OD for the bondo to grip the bushi...

Re: What are these motors worth $$

Jim,

You might be lucky enough to get 5-10 cents on the dollar. Here is a close equivalent in Grainger.

Grainger 3hp DC

Ebay does not seem to have much. Which could work fer ya or a'gin ya.

Re: Which Blade for a band saw

Much of your blade choices can be limited to the strength of the machine and keeping the blade on the wheels. This can be controlled to some extent by the feed. As if that feature is available on these cheaper saws. I thought some were hand control only or some counterbalance spring. Simple to add a...

Re: 4-c Collet

Andy, My reply was not directed toward you, just included in the thread for those that might consider this as a viable option. Only to be very disapointed with the results. We had a 9" Southbend that was used for tooling support that I just hated for those reasons listed. My Rockwell 10" h...

Re: 4-c Collet

On lathes with bushing spindles verses bearing spindles. If the bushing is getting sloppy, this can compound chatter and deflection when using some adapters to 5C collet holders that extend out too far from the mount. Small bore spindles leave little choice in that. For that matter, bearings without...

Re: What are these items

Roy,

They look to be junk home made cutters out of oil hardening stock. A bit too hard and not annealed back. Good for nothing now. Not even worth the shipping cost.

Otherwise known as frigg'n fragill'e?

Re: HELP! metric threading on a Jet lathe!

Here is what I think you need. If you look at your threading plate chart. It will tell you what gears need to be in the lathe to cut your 1.5mm pitch. It will also tell you what settings the levers need to be in. Jet BDB 1340A Manual Read the last paragraph on page 16. Be very aware that once you en...

Re: 24 pounder Project, Phase XIII

Nice barrel George! Will you be putting any coating on this? Plating, black oxide etc? I'm not sure which is worse. Getting ready to move, the day of the move or unpacking once the move is done. Going from a small place to a big place isn't so bad. Figuring out what to do with things there is no lon...

Re: Good luck with Buck

Frank, No, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect it semi-correct, which is what you recieved. I just think that it is not all that uncommon to true up any chuck jaws on the machine intended for. What I was suggesting for your hindsight was to make it easier on on yourself if the chuck body did ...
