I have put two recessed bolts on the steam chest on all the locomotives I have built. It will save the lower gasket from being ruined or torn if the steam chest moves while adjusting the valves.

As the title says, I am looking for the supplemental drawing and instructions that went with Cole's Corliss engine castings. I have all the other drawings.

Re: Using 811 For Finding Underground Wires
Years ago, before I moved to Nevada I was digging a post hole in my yard clear of the easement area. A little bit later my neighbor came over to ask if m...

Re: Pvc pipe for air ??
A used fire extinguisher tank makes a good air tank. The ones I have used are aluminum, non refillable but when new are charged with 120 pounds of pressure. They are fairly small about 3" dia. and 12" long.

Re: Steam Dome Throttle
Use a ball valve in the steam dome, makes a great throttle. That is all I have used in 45 years and have never had to replace one.

I have one I bought years ago at a machinery show for the R8. They are available, just remove the locator pin that isn't needed anyway.

Re: 14 ga. Steel Material cutting
If you have a table saw get a metal cutting blade and it will work great. I have cut a lot of steel sheet on my table saw up to 3/16" thick. Just wear some safety goggles, safety shield and a long sleeve shirt. If you are like me with thin skin and thin blood you will look like you were in a wa...
