Re: mhp s-24, st. louis
I am back, got busy and computer issues. Yes it is just a knee mill. The control is dead. The plan is to get it going with the all in one conversion without the tool changer to start with. Phase 2 will be adding the tool changer and maybe rigid tapping. the machine already has good servo motors and...

Dave, I can't remember, did you switch to Acorn on your lathe?

Re: Centroid CNC Acorn
Yup, I'm sold! I bought my Acorn board last night so I can install it in the mill control panel. I will order the computer and the PRO mill licenses later after I get the machine a little further along. I've had Mach 3 for about 4 years but it has too many limitations for me. IE: Non standard G-Cod...

Re: Centroid CNC Acorn
You can use the Gecko 320x servo driver with Acorn...basically any motor driver that can take step and direction input will generally work fine with Acorn.

Re: mhp s-24, st. louis
I had to go search what it was. It appears to be a CNC knee mill. Do you own this machine? Does it have a tool changer?
Tool changers add a level of complexity but doable with Centroid controls. What are you hoping to accomplish and at what budget? Is the machine operational now or dead control?

Centroid CNC Acorn
Centroid Acorn is doing well...I wanted to post a couple of recent videos from Centroid on a bench top Techno Isel CNC lathe. It is running open loop steppers (Acorn will control closed loop steppers, AC servo drives like DMM DYN2 and DYN4 [Doing and Emcoturn 120 with those now] any motor driver tha...
