Re: Milling a helix
Both yield 120 volts to neutral The reason for the "blanked off" spots is that the "Wild Leg" of 208 does not produce 120 volts to ground. So you should not put a single breaker in those slots! Quick way to tell if you have 208 Wye or 240 Delta is to go out and look at the trans...

Thanks,Picture a large kitchen bread-dough blender, but for sand. Usually wider than deep, with slow moving mixing blades.
Many variations of design are possible. Even a cement mixer can work nicely.

That was pretty much what I found on the Internet when I did a search for said item.

Re: Milling a helix
Any chance of showing us a picture of what a Muller is? I'm thinking it has some use in the melting/casting work but I've never been around any of that to know what you are speaking of.Getting my muller operational is one of those things
Just curious..

Well isn't that slick! I love some of the ingenuity found here from the members! And more to the point, most of the really good stuff I've learned in life I learned from someone older than me. Older people know stuff because they've been there and done it! That is a very well thought out solution H...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Build Log
I got the chip guard finished! It works pretty well and it just lifts out of the 1/4" channel when I need to make a tool change. I may at some point add a back splash didn't spray to far to the rear so maybe I'll just go with it as it is. I made a 4 1/2" table extension towards the front o...

Re: G0678 CNC Conversion Build Log
That said, did you lubricate your tap (perhaps each hole) before tapping? Yes, I put some clear thread cutting lube in and around all 5 holes and some on the tap. Because it is clear, it does not show up very well in the video. The product I used was something I bought from Grizzly and I've had it ...

The mill is complete!
I made a video of 5 holes being rigid tapped if you want to see it run.

I have a request to do some work to fabricate a pair of airplane axels for a new Bearcat kit plane. This pair of axels will be made from a 1-1/2" cold rolled bar of 4130. I don't know yet if the spec is for pre-hard or some other variant but here are my questions since I have not worked with 41...

Re: Carbide question
Cabi Universal calls them "shim seats", MSC calls them "Anvils" Look here..https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn/Indexable-Cutting-Tools/Indexable-Replacement-Parts-Accessories/Insert-Holder-Hardware/Anvils-For-Indexables?navid=12107181 It all depends on the manufacture of the tool...

Re: Carbide question
It is called the anvil and it can be changed out to change the rake. Some are set to make negative rake, some positive, some neutral. Which one you need or want depends on the insert you are using and perhaps the metal you are cutting as some metals cut best with either a negative rake or a positive...
