Unless it's been redesigned at some point over the years, the piston bore of a RRSC CP173 is 1.500 diameter. That's the bore as designed and marketed by the original (Chet Peterson era) RRSC. The RRSC cylinder casting was bored to 1.750, as I recall, to receive a liner having a wall thickness of .12...

I called Barry the other day to shoot the breeze. No indication as to any problem(s). We talked about the Moseley generator and the recent thread here regarding it. Barry also told me during our talk he was working on a new injector to market.

Anyone know what happened/cause.

I'd go with 4140HT, which is pre-hardened to Rc32. 4140HT machines nicely and threading the pins shouldn't be any problem.

If you want to go really exotic, you can use 52100 heat treated and ground.... But 4140HT will more than do the job.

As I recall, Harry used a trailing truck frame cast from the pattern made for Lew Soibelman's ATSF 2-10-4. I believe Jack Sessums made that pattern.
