Re: Oil firing question

If you are burning oil i.e. Kerosene or Diesel fuel, it is not necessary to pressurize the tank. Just make sure the oil control valve is not too small to allow fuel to flow when the head pressure drops as the tank empties. Based on my experience, this applies to 1 inch scale - 1.5 in scale.

Re: silver soldering steel to steel

I use the white flux (never tried the black flux because the white seems to work). Propane or acetylene, with a small tip, on smaller parts. Acetylene (large tip) on larger steel parts. (I'm not talking about huge parts here, but typically parts that would just be better off using a little more heat...

Adam Wright is a supplier of EBT vulcan trucks. Is this who you tried to contact?

Re: is anyone making these?

Precison Steel Car has them for 1.25 each.

Part number L-006. Look under this link http://www.precisionsteelcar.com/details_loco.html

Scroll down to "Other Parts".

Can't beat the price.

At first glance, it looks like your blast nozzle is too low.

Re: Plastic couplers

I put one on my stock car. I use it for a propane car, so it is the first coupler behind the loco. I pull 8 cars, sometimes more. The coupler has never failed.

Old project photos are always interesting. The older the better.

Re: Oil firing with a Bagley burner

No heating of the oil or steam. Keep it simple. If it's not working, it's not because you need to heat the steam or fuel.
