Re: Choice of prototype

I over the years have collected many paper prints of the N&W class J, A, and the Y6b. Is there a way to transfer them to a form that folks can have access to them without me spending a fortune? Does the NWHS have all the prints needed to build one of these locomotives?

Re: Choice of prototype

I once started to gather up all my prints and make a list of the prints for folks like yourself. I have hundreds of class A, J and the Y6b. I am not sure which ones would help you. You gave me a list and I started to read my prints and found some of the ones you wanted. Are you sure you want to buil...

Re: Wheels to axles — which Loctite?

I built a Little Engines Pacific back in the 70s. The main driver had a crankpin that free spun in the main driver. Instead of sending the pin back to Little Engines, I put Loctite on the crankpin and let it set. That crankpin has not spun in 30+ years of operation. If it had the engines timing woul...

Re: Need help choosing a loco.

I started at age 20 years old. I am now a senior. I was in love with the Southern Railroad and I decided to go for the gold. I built a Southern Ps4. I spent nine years at 30 hours a week on my engine. I do not recommend a major project of magnitude on the first engine, but why not. Build that engine...

Re: will spring steel mill?

Would it help to skin the bark off the material with small dermal wheel to remove the surface or is it hard all the way through. I am very new at this. I do not want to eat up end mills in my learning curve.

will spring steel mill?

Hello Everyone, I now know where to buy my spring strips. Can a carbide cutter mill a slot instead of punching the slot? I do not want to anneal the springs only to need to heat treat them. What are my options?

material to make leaf spring leafs

I need to make leaf springs. Anyone know where I can find a supplier for leaf spring strips material. I need 5/16" or 1/2" wide. The thickness is not all that important. Thank you folks
