Re: plasma cutter
The devil is in the details and those details seem impossible to find. Just for starters.... No idea how long the leads are or the model of torch. Running it on 110 will probably severely degrade its capacity. Typical of running dual voltage units on 110v. Without looking further the info implies th...

Re: where can I get internally broached tube/pipe?
Just one word of caution....extending the track width will put more bending force on the axle right where it comes out of the housing. The axle may eventually bend if you run on a lot of rough terrain.

Re: washing welding gloves?
I've always thrown gloves away. I'd be careful about washing a welding jacket. I remember reading years ago about the possibility of washing the fire retardant they were soaked in originally being washed out. About the time the washed gloves/jacket let some wayward hot spark burn through and get to ...

Have you looked into cable railing hardware? There are numerous suppliers on the Internet with all kinds of fittings.

Re: Good Bit for Drilling Tile?
This doesn't help the OP with his drilling problem but keep in mind you can also drill tiles from the backside and not have to fight as much to get through the glaze on the front side.

Re: Machine transport Concerns
I sure wouldn't worry about being a few hundred pounds ove the stated capacity. I've been hauling stuff in pickups for 40 years. All of them have been overloaded at one time or another. If a Tundra can't haul 1500 or so pounds its time for another truck. What does the door sticker say? What you do w...

Re: Cost of a Precision Matthews mill
If its one of these then the price is on this page I found. http://www.machinetoolonline.com/PM-MV-BenchMills.html I'd be concerned by the lack of spindle travel (2"?) but that's just me. I have a RF45 clone but then that doubles the cost. In the few years I've been in this hobby PM seems to ha...

Not sure what you are really looking for but JD2 sells all kinds of dies. If you do some Internet searching you might even be able to find someone that has dimensioned them so you can make your own.

Re: Set screw sizes vs. bolt sizes?
I for one just learned something new from that page out of the machinery handbook. Thanks. That info would want to make me even more determined to throw them away if they came from HF. At those small sizes you would want to make sure they were of higher quality and not prone to stripping the threads...

Re: Set screw sizes vs. bolt sizes?
.???? Wood 'screws' come #4, #6, #8, etc. by a particular length. Machine 'screws' (the bolt part of a nut/bolt combination) come in your normal bolt thread configurations. Set screws fall into this category. As far as having bought therm from HF, the best thing to do is throw them away and buy bett...

Re: Are we heading toward idiocracy?
My pet peeve is all the expensive printed circuitry crap in dishwashers and clothes dryers/washers. 15 years ago we had those clunky rotary timers and mechanical switches that we would complain about because we had to replace them every 8-10 years. Now its all integrated touch circuitry where the ch...

Re: Which Machine Scares You the Most?
I have a healthy respect for tools and the environment around me. More so since I have been living alone the last 6 years or so. Funny how I get to thinking my pets can't call for help. If anything scares me its being around people that don't have a clue how something might hurt them or the people a...
