Re: 12” gauge DRGW Inspired RR

Glenn, I was surprised to see pillow blocks on a park train. Gives me hope for my flange bearings!
Here are some photos I found online of that “ugly duck” steam outline.

Re: 12” gauge DRGW Inspired RR

At one time they had a live steam locomotive, now they have a steam outline.
The new outline is straight up ugly.
They should have converted the steamer pictured below.

Mad max on rails!
This one has English subtitles.
Apparently you'll want fashionable rubber boot to ride this rail!

Re: 12” gauge DRGW Inspired RR

We are building a 15" gauge railroad here in Phoenix, AZ & are in need of additional 12# rail. Have you located a source of rail? The only large source of 12lb rail I’m currently aware of is the large stash that American Heritage Railroad in Greenville Ill. At one time they were considerin...

Re: ID this rail?

My guess it’s factory G16/G12 rail.
It had a slightly narrower railhead than 12lb.
Glenn, few months back you you had mentioned some 8lb rail that need pulled up, is this the rail what you were talking about ?

Re: 12” gauge DRGW Inspired RR

Now that short days, and colder weather have arrived, I’ve managed to get a start on my DRGW Long Caboose. I used white oak for the end sills, center, and side sills. Today, I got the end sills cut to size, and notched for the coupler pockets. Over the passed summer I’ve managed to acquire a copy of...

Do your 1977-1980 Live steam magazines have articles by Don Young and his Maxi Lucky 7 build?

Re: Mesa Grande Western: Fall 2022

Thanks for posting pictures! Glad to see the progress in rebuilding after the fire.
The Mesa Grande has Ben the inspiration for my 3” DRGW RR.
I’m curious if there are any blue prints or folios of the steam locomotives?

Re: How’d you get here?

Was very fortunate to have grown up on the family farm, which had just under 1 mile of Frisco/BN/BNSF track running through the farm. Back in the day we played on, or around the track and bridge. 1 mile to the north, and 1 mile to south was a public crossing where the trains always whistled. Never o...
