Re: Delrin bushing
Got a hold of some 6-1/4" x 12-1/4" slugs of acetal. IMG_20230321_140741.jpg We machined bushings out of them, and had enough left over to make spacers, as parts of the rotor were going to hit the tower braces. IMG_20230401_173953.jpg IMG_20230401_174415.jpg As the antennas will likely see...

Re: Clocking of toolpost
Yes, I've had piston toolposts before that that was true with mine.Bill Shields wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 1:09 pm Interesting since I have a piston type and all pistons move together.
Since I moved, I haven't found my wedge toolpost, so I've been using this one.

Pratt & Whitney 3C dividing head case - gauging interest for a run of these.
To all you P&W 3C owners: I have an original dividing head box, and I'm looking at loaning it to someone who does intricate cabinetry work like is in these. He's going to look at the feasibility of making them. What I would like to know is: Who would want one? Approximately what would you pay fo...

Re: Clocking of toolpost
The dowel pin test on the toolpost shows both are within 0.001 of each other.
The pistons aren't moving at the same time, so there must be something amiss inside.
I'm going to have to pull it apart.

Clocking of toolpost
I have a Phase II AXA piston toolpost. When I put in a facing tool on the far side, the handle clocks properly. Toopost (1).jpg When I put a turning tool on the left side, the handle ends up on the other side of the lathe. Toopost (2).jpg It's not the toolholders - the same toolholder was used for b...

Tumbler media
I picked up a vibratory tumbler. I'd like to get an assortment of media for everything from cleaning/rust removal to polishing. If I wanted to make a "starter kit" of media, what would I get? Walnut shells seems to be the go-to for polishing. Harbor Freight has triangular ceramic media for...

Small Tools moved.
They are in Sunbury, OH.
Found that out when I tried to visit last week after visiting HGR.

Re: Boring chuck bore
I've had stuff come up and not gotten to this, but I have the faceplate out and some clamps. Needed to buy some bolts because some of my hardware is still in storage.
Will be getting back to this in a few weeks.

I'm sure we'll be hearing this from politicians instead of "That was written by a low-level staffer who has since been dismissed".Bill Shields wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 10:49 am "sorry, my bot wrote that, and I am not responsible for the views presented therein"

Re: Boring chuck bore
There are people who say that the bore is what centers the chuck, there are others that say it's the threads. Not sure who is right or wrong; maybe a bit of both. If you put some spotting paste on the face of your spindle and put the chuck on, you may find that it's only contacting on a small portio...

Re: Boring chuck bore
Yes.
Hadn't thought of that, even though it's sitting in the drawer right next to me, and I can see it staring back at me, as the drawer is cracked about 2".
That would just be clamping and bumping to get it centered, correct?
