Re: A Question Regarding Lead
Hello again, Thank you all for your thoughts. Mr. Koopmans: a) The lap is 0.156" with the lead at 0.030, it appears the ratio is 1/5.2. Certainly outside the parameters noted. How do you feel this ratio impacts the events? b) Mr. Dockstader's program is certainly intricate and quite dependent o...

A Question Regarding Lead
Hello, Having built my locomotive using my own design, one of the issues was in the valve gear, whether to apply lead or to leave it without. If lead was to be used---how much? Spent a fair amount of time researching the question and based on thoughts by Don Young and others came down on the side of...

Hello Mr. Bergman, We usually have a work session on Saturdays, now mostly up to about 11 AM (then the heat gets a bit much). Sundays, again, there are always folks about and they will be most happy to help you as best they can. There is at least one LE 4-8-2 built in the late 70's available for ins...

Re: "Billet" Cast Iron Cylinders - Not a casting
Hello,
These are the fabricated cylinders for my engine. Getting a set of cylinders for what was needed was much easier and quicker than patterns and castings. Cast iron sleeves in the valve bores, none in the cylinders. So far they have given good service.
