Re: worthington pump
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to drill the passages in the steam cylinder. Looking at the drawings it would be real easy for me to confuse one passage with another and drill something wrong. My solution was to make an individual drawing for each of the drilling operations. That way ...

Re: worthington pump
Thanks to Pamela's tireless efforts to document the construction of the HW pump, I decided to dig my castings out of the to-do pile and start making some chips of my own. So far the machine work on the pump body is mostly finished and the steam cylinder is bored and faced and the holes in the pump e...

Re: 1.6" Western Pacific 332 class 2-8-2 for sale.
Last 5 for today. The compressor is non-operating, made from my dad's original molds. The injector is fabricated and is basically the same design as the one on the Cab-forward that has been in use for over 35 years. I believe it is a Pemberthy copy. I also believe the boiler check valve body is also...

Here are a couple of pictures of the Mikado I took in 2006. I am sure more progress has been made in the meantime.

Re: Charlie Dockstader
I found another picture of Charlies El Gobernador, this slide is dated July 1977. Most likely taken at the LALS 1977 spring meet since we tried to attend that meet as often as we could back then. I also found a slide dated March 1977 of the chassis for the El Gobernador that I built using Charlies d...

Re: Charlie Dockstader
The first Live Steam locomotive I built was an El Gobernador using Charlie's drawings and castings. Although his drawings were sketches on notepaper, they were very well detailed and it was relatively easy to see how the parts were to be made and how they interacted with each other. I was building t...
