Re: Small Scales Meet July 13-14 at LALS

I have never "expected" those guys to take care of the track, Steve or taken their efforts for granted and I have offered to help in the past and I have worked on that track before, leveling it and cleaning it up when we first came to the club and ran often. This is what I get for thanking...

Chris, thanks for all your and John's hard work on the small gauge track and take it easy we need you around. Oskar ran the heck out of his 3/4" atlantic on the Spring Meet, said the track was great, no problems at around 20 MPH.

Re: Help with CerroBend alloy

Hello All. I have been working with Cerrobend recently. I melt it in a pyrex baking pan so that I have a lot of room to get my hands in where they need to be to handle everything. I heat it on the stove with a heat spreader at a low flame. Once the Cerrobend is melted (it looks like and behaves like...

Re: 1" scale B&O P7 built by Doug Alkire

The sadness that certain people are feeling around this locomotive's sale is part of a history hat no one outside of Doug and Doug's family can appreciate or understand. There is no "Guilty party " here. Doug made the decision to sell the engine. Why he chose the person he chose is really ...

Smart table feed/indexer

I'm looking for a simple stepper controller to index my milling table. For example every 1/8" with NO/NC switch actuation on my quill. I coul use a preset count or something that reads out the spacing. The simpler the better. Thanks

Phase II Rotary Table Backlash fix

Hello, I bought an 8" Phase II used rotary table on ebay and it has a lot of backlash measurable in fractions of an inch, a lot. I can't seem to locate an adjustment screw. I removed a large screw in the base, put a flashlight to it and was surprised to see what appeared to be a bevel gear as o...

Re: Why not steel?

I would kindly like to ask that before you post a comment, please read the thread from the beginning. It is now heading way off course. I hope this is not taken wrong but I don't want to re-state what's already been said. It's all there from the beginning and all my questions have been answered. Tha...

Re: Why not steel?

Cost, availability and simplicity are the core topics of this thread. There are many young kids at our club who are enthusiastic but have no resources. Some of them live with single moms in apartments and don't have the money, huge machine shops at thier disposal or train obsessed dads who are willi...
