Re: Is Railroad Supply still in business?

I was spoiled with RRSC, just drive on down the street to Burbank, talk to Chet, Jerry Brown or one of the other guys. I could pick up just about anything from stock. I was young then and Chet was old. Now I'm old and Chet's not with us anymore. Life moves on...

LAL Ltd (UK) Taps and Dies

Over the years various purchases have included what is now a pile of LAL Ltd (UK) taps and dies. Some are marked ME (Model Engineer) and these are by definition 55 degree Whitworth. Others are not marked ME, these are mostly 32 and 40 TPI, 1/4-32, 7/32-40, 9/32-40, etc. Should I assume these are 55 ...

Build Documentation for Stuart Models (UK) Engines

I have four Stuart engines and I'm wondering which are documented in Model Engineer, Live Steam, Modeltec, MAP booklets, etc. These are: Model 4 vertical Double 10 (I know there is a booklet on the #10, don't know if it applies to the D10). Also the Bill Harris roller uses the D10 modified for the r...

Re: Making a level Part 2 .. Found a block of Invar.. scrap

On my Starrett 98, the main vial is mounted on pads cast on the top of the cast bar. The vial in not fitted inside a slot. There is also a V-groove machined longitudinally along the lower surface to allow the level to be mounted on round stock. And there is a small level vial at right angles to the ...

After turning Stressproof you'll never want to chuck up a piece of generic cold or hot rolled again.

Not much more money to get a Atlas or South Bend. That arm cranking can get old in a hurry. Think of all the guys getting VFD's so they don't have to change belts on their J head BP's!

Phosphoric Acid on your hands will take all the oils out. After washing off, use some moisturizing product or you'll have very dry hands. This also makes Phosphoric Acid an excellent degreaser.

Living Legend, Know about this: NZR Ja Blueprints???

Hey Living Legend, From Pacific NG: "NZR Ja Blueprints, and other sets Unread postby Loco112 on Fri Jun 13, 2014 1:57 pm Once upon a time in America, there was a then somewhat infamous Livesteamer that sold the full set of blueprints, about 500 of them, to the NZR Ja class 4-8-4's. These locomo...
