New Shaper

My "new"South Bend Shaper is at home in the shop undergoing a thorough cleaning. It appears to be in excellent shape with the exception of two belts that need replacing. I'll send some photos when I get it up and running.

Re: Really want a double set trigger?

Only when they're building a "Jim Carmichel" style European Sporter, or a reproduction of a c.1920 Mauser factory custom job.

Re: please help fab slide valve(no machine tools)

Dave, you can get a chunk of Cast Iron Bushing stock from Coles' Power Models for $5.00 or less that will be plenty of stock for a valve or maybe two.

Re: gunparts

Do you have a double set trigger mechanism for a '98 Mauser that I could afford?

Re: please help fab slide valve(no machine tools)

Do you mean the valve itself, or a simple slide valve design of an entire engine?

Re: spiral flute homebuilt tap

Drill rod and a long taper should do the trick. You can heat treat it with a Propane torch and a can of lukewarm water.

Re: The Newbie Locomotive

Mine WILL have side rods! And I'm building mine backwards according to Unca Jesse. I've just about got the frame and running gear completed (0-6-0) and now I'm going to have to figure out attaching the oscillating cylinders to the frame. Oh what joy!!
