As I mentioned toward the beginning of this thread, using the 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00 method works well for round holes. Ever seen one of the old Hardinge "Super Slant" lathes?

Slant beds are now fairly common on CNC turning centers.

Sort of relavent.

A suggestion is to possibly keep some Stressproof or 1144 on hand for shafts if warpage during machining is a concern. A little harder than 1018 etc. and machines nicely too!
