Re: Anvil.

The owner is a Blacksmith with workshop full of anvils.
He has an Anvil from Napoleon's army which was carted with the invading forces to reshoe the horses.
His favourite anvil which he uses everyday, rescued from a ships ballast hold.

Re: Socket head cap screws

Years ago when I visited the Smithsonian in Washington DC I saw that the replica atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima is held together with socket head bolts.

Re: Suggestion to secure a crankcase for fly cutting

Mandrel through main bearing bores.
Mandrel set on Vee blocks, that will give precise alignment for the cylinder side to side.
Front to back alignment is not that critical.
Most engine rebuilders set the block to the main bearing registers before boring or decking.

Re: Fixing the electrics in my old German mill Ruhla 250/710

I had to maintain a relay logic control system using about 200 relays controlling a CO burner generating steam from the flue gas from a catalytic cracker. The relays had economy resistors in parallel with a NC contact, on energising the NC contact would open and the relay would hold in with the much...

Wow, relay logic from days gone past, have not seen selenium rectifiers since I was an apprentice in the late sixties, going to be a difficult task without a wiring diagram, good luck.

Re: Peerless power hacksaw

I use a synthetic soluble oil, my steel supplier decants it into a coke bottle from a large drum, not sure of the manufacturer.
Charges me $8 per liter.

Re: Peerless power hacksaw

My 14" power hacksaw does about 90 strokes per minute with coolant, no problems cutting 4140 or stainless, use Eclipse blades and they last a long time.
Good machine and reliable, yes it is slow but I am not in a hurry.

Re: Lathe chuck mounting standard?

I have similar spindle on my lathe, it did not come with a 4 jaw chuck, purchased a 100 mm 4 jaw chuck but had 4 tapped holes instead of three, simply tapped 3 new holes and bolted directly to spindle, register fitted perfectly.

Re: youtube ads increasing?

Unbelievable they interrupt a song with an ad, think there plan is to pay to watch and then insert there ads again.
They know they have a good product and prepared to abuse it.

I would hazard a guess it would run in the same direction but swapping the drive end gives you reverse.

Re: Flexible Air Compressor Connector

I use 1/2" nylon tube with Swagelok compression fittings, isolates the vibration from the piping nicely.
