Re: Here we go again.....
I have read this string perhaps a dozen times and it caused me to reflect on my vocation as well as my "hobby". I have been a professional firefighter/EMT for 34 years and I have served in my local communities as a volunteer firefighter/EMT simultaneously for now turning 53 years this mont...

Re: China tooling....
Recognizing that you can run a very wide range in tooling costs vs quality, with a lot involving operator expectations, what source do you use that consistently provides quality tooling at a reasonable price? I realize this is likely an impossible question to answer but I would really appreciate opi...

Re: Basic Blasting Cabinet Set Up?
I have been turning my non synchro mental gears on options for a cooling system for a while. I want to run this by folks to get an opinion prior to wasting time. What if I were to take and old home A/C condenser and removed the refrigerant coils and replace with 3/4" copper? I could assemble th...

Re: Compressed air condensation removal systems
Curtis The cooler I made is 50' long from 3/4" copper tubing cut and soldered in a manner that condenses it's size to about 6' x 14" as shown in the pic below. This way it can be placed low to the ground and some what hidden and with a few degrees taper on each branch the water naturally ...

Re: Compressed air condensation removal systems
Compressor.jpg The air enters on the side and goes up and over the top and down to the outlet. The water can't crawl that far up the larger pipe so it collects down at the drain fitting. That seems pretty easy. I am in the process of building an outside room for the compressor to get rid of the noi...

Compressed air condensation removal systems
RSG made mention on another post of a copper coil cooling system for his air compressor to remove condensation. I have a twin cylinder maybe 20 CFM upright compressor that feeds a small moisture removing filter then about 30' of 3/4" steel pipe and finally a 50' hose reel plus some other taps f...

How many CFM are you looking for at what pressure? Those two items should drive a lot of your search.

Re: 40x60 Workshop
Curious, could you recess the tracks so the top of the track is at grade with the concrete and then install a 9000lb two post auto lift to serve multiple purposes?

Re: Switch construction rail lengths
When I arrive at the site I usually immediately go to "New posts". As with Russel, that gives me the ability to see what is new anywhere on the board. I too am not a train guy but when I see topics of interest like relief valves, I read those. I pass by the conversation on track width etc....

Re: Lathe Compound
From an enthusiastic newbie: The idea of a rigid, solid QCTP riser to replace the compound on a 9x20 is logical and appealing, but leaves me with a question that might be obvious to others. All the plans I have seen fix the QCTP squared against the ways and the chuck. This is perfect for turning an...
