Re: Grand scale wheels
I just put this under the broader park train topic, but thought it fit here as well. I have the 24” gauge Jenkinsons Beach Train which did indeed run on the beach. As in the sand. As a result wheel wear was a apparently a major problem, and I would suppose an expensive problem over its operable life...

Re: Show your Park Gauge train
Yes, wheels can be expensive, but the previous owners of my National set had a unique solution. I have the 24” gauge Jenkinsons Beach Train which did indeed run on the beach. As in the sand. As a result wheel wear was a apparently a major problem, and I would suppose an expensive problem over its op...

24" Gauge Nationals Available
If anyone was interested, there are two 24” gauge National Amusement locomotives for sale here in central NJ. They are on ebay and I believe on DLS as well, but I have been in direct contact with the seller as well. Nationals tend to be the Rodney Dangerfield of park train locomotives in that they g...

Re: 16" gauge mystery locomotive
Looks like the little locomotive has sold. I had taken a close look, but the Army surplus motor which is known to have issues and tiny odd ball wheels scared me off. His two 24" gauge Nationals are now listed on ebay and DLS. The bodies have been mangled by shipping straps, but otherwise not in...

Re: G-16 refurbish project advice
Dennis: Sometime back someone had detailed their efforts in restoring a G-16, but off hand I can not locate it. The G-16 is one of the best looking park train diesels so makes an excellent project and with a decent financial return as they seem to hold their value better than many park train product...

16" gauge mystery locomotive
Just to kick things off, I took a look at a 16” gauge “critter” today. It came up on ebay and is not far from my home so it was worth the ride to take a look. Its about 4’ long, 2’ wide, a shade over 2’ tall. Its on ebay now, but the guy is pleasant enough to deal with in person. Looks to be well bu...

Re: Grand Scale
Can I suggest that it start at 9" gauge? Yes, I have a reason to suggest it. I'm thinking the Becker C&S RR which ran here in NJ.

Re: Grand Scale
I didn't even see this topic until tonight and I check a couple of times a day. Geez. So, add me to the roster here with a 15" gauge 1907 4-4-0 Herschell. I have found quite a bit of activity in large scale via several FB pages and yahoo. I am not a fan of yahoo at this point. It would be nice ...

Re: What is a riding scale?
I'm with Steve on this one. For the purposes of this specific discussion board, "riding scale" refers to those trains that are not steam powered. As he stated, this was done some years back to separate the steam and non-steam locomotive discussions on Chaski and has worked fairly well over...

Re: 3/4" and 1-1/2" scale driver castings
I too have questioned why the odd number of spokes and have looked at a number of Pacifics, whether standard gauge, narrow gauge, park train size and even live steam to no avail. Why do I even think they are for a Pacific? I have the frame for the engine, again with some odd construction techniques....

1-1/2" scale driver castings and Pacific Frame/kit
Still looking for a good home for the drivers and Pacific "kit." I'm open to offers or even trades for 1" scale rolling stock. Can deliver to the NJLS meet in June.
Thanks!

Re: 3/4" and 1-1/2" scale driver castings
Just wanted to add some additional photos of the 1-1/2" scale drivers. Key seems to be that I have a group of drivers with light spokes (heavy and light counter balances) and a group of drivers with heavy spokes (heavy and light counter balances). In short, what I have is: Thin spoke, light cou...
