Up and down on Sunday - 3/20/2022

I need to do a couple of small updates on Sunday (3/20). This might have the system up and down oddly.
I will do my best to minimize the disruption, but please be patient if you run into it.
Thank you!

Re: Falk Website

The "wayback machine" seems to have one old copy, but pictures don't show up.

Software Maintenance Thursday & Friday

Just a warning.
I don't expect the board to be down for much time, but I will be doing odd maintenance on Thursday and Friday.
You might see a hiccup here and there.
I will do my best to minimize those!

Re: 1/2'' scale drawings

An excellent source of information on this scale is the British National 2 1/2" gauge society.
http://www.n25ga.org/
They have many resources available.
I have bought many of their construction booklets.
They are very fun to read even if one does not have time to build!

Re: Saving pages

I have been trying to see what else might work. Microsoft suggests using Onenote. They have some info here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/insert-notes-from-the-web-into-onenote-773ef534-7a3a-40d7-8c39-b3f953d46f1e I have not had a chance to try it, so not sure how well it works. It also...

Re: CAD CAM software

Chris, I bet it can't be used for turning...I see a comment on the web wishing for "Estlcam turn." I am not experience with other tools...but for me, for the milling, it is super intuitive. (It could be that I am just nuts too!) The nice thing is that it is free to try. It is actually free...

Re: CAD CAM software

I really like Estlcam, for a low-cost cam tool. https://estlcam.de/ However Like Russ mentions, a virtual machine might not be a bad idea. You could try spending $25.00 or so on Windows XP from Ebay and then install virtual box on your new pc. (which is free) (Or do you have your old Windows XP inst...

How much does ZA8 shrink during solidification?

I am not even sure of the right terms here, but was wondering how much bigger my pattern has to be for casing ZA8?
I have heard somewhere 2% bigger to handle shrinkage during the casting process, but I can't find that number anywhere now.
Has anybody experience with ZA8?
Thank you,
Mike
