Re: Clishay Engine Driven Water Pump

I am using 1/4" ram. I think that I am also loosing too much suction and force thru the packing nut. I am now experimenting with using an o-ring on the ram and/or for packing. Hand tested it and it seems to work better. I will install back on the engine next week and report back. My boiler is a...

Clishay Engine Driven Water Pump

Has anyone made modifications to the engine driven water pump to improve efficiency and decrease water leakage on the ram?

Re: Locomotive Roller Test Stand

Thanks to all for the great ideas. I erroneously said 1" gauge at the beginning. I meant 1" scale. I have a Maxitrak Ruby that I have had problems with and I hope that these ideas can help solve the timing issues. I have also just acquired a GER Y74/LNER Y4 0-4-0 and without loading the wh...

Re: Locomotive Roller Test Stand

The main reason for asking is the problem of valve timing. This is a Maxitrak locomotive that i have running smoothly in reverse but is terrible forward. Using a roller stand should help get the timing right. Valve gear is Marshall

Locomotive Roller Test Stand

I am looking to build a simple roller test stand for 0-4-0 1" gauge locomotives. I have done a search with a few pictures showing up. They do not seem to be complicated devices but i was wondering how some of you have done it and what not to do. Any pictures or suggestions are welcome. Thanks, ...

Re: Cole's Worthington pup question?

Dianne,

I also am getting into building the Cole's pump and would also like an AutoCAD set when you are finished. I have AutoCAD so an elcetronic copy will be OK if you are sharing your work.

PM Research Model 5a Steam Engine

Hi, In clearing out my in law's estate I found what looks like a complete PM Research model 5a casting kit. I am looking for a copy of the drawings and instructions. PM Research does not have any to sell or copy. If anyone has a copy that they could reproduce for me I will pay for copying and postag...

Wasn't this engine a build series in Live Steam during the late 1980's?
