How much does ZA8 shrink during solidification?

I am not even sure of the right terms here, but was wondering how much bigger my pattern has to be for casing ZA8?
I have heard somewhere 2% bigger to handle shrinkage during the casting process, but I can't find that number anywhere now.
Has anybody experience with ZA8?
Thank you,
Mike

Make sure you go to https://www.chaski.org, not http//www.chaski.org.
(notice the 's')
https://www.chaski.org/homemachinist

This should be secure.

https has the secure socket layer. Http does not.

Board will be down a bit Friday, March 5th

The board will be down a bit for some maintenance, tomorrow morning. (Friday, March 5th)
I do not expect it will be down too long, perhaps 20 minutes maximum.

Re: Chaski News and Support Request

Right at this moment, I would truly appreciate a bit of help to keep the website going. We are not at risk of imminent shutdown, but it would sure be a help if anybody is interested. Money can be mailed to my consulting business at: EDI Enterprises, Inc. PO Box 1059 CHANHASSEN, MN 55317 Or paypal to...

Re: cylinder block.

Didn't the last Kozo build series in Live Steam Magazine have a built up cylinder block?

If you weed through here:
http://www.john-tom.com/LBSC/TichSm.pdf

On page 67 or so is the article: Fabricated Cylinders by " L.B.S.C."
Which might also be of help.

Board Maintenance Wednesday, July 10th

The board will be down for maintenance on the morning of Wednesday, July 10th.
This is a fairly large upgrade, so it may be down a while.
Thank you for your understanding.
