4501 does not have a filter..like Bill said if your careful with your fuel...anywy the answer is yes...through the line back to the tank...boy would it ever have been nice to have a blowback on those damn BK stokers we have...lol...they can plug up if the coal even gets damp...lol

blow back

If I remember correctly it is "tee'd" into the delivery line..you open the firing valve full then the blowback..you will get some steam out the nozzle but the major percentage blows back through the delivery line

oil firing

The live steamers I have run that are oil fired did not have the blowback / cleanout feature. Any live steamers out there that have that? Mike My 4501 has a blow back valve...it has proven handy if I feel the oil is not flowing like it should....I used it a bit down at nick edwrds track in Texs las...

While it is nice to be so prototype..I can atest to the fact that it is a nightmare to fix anything and some times with the valves being so close together it is challenging...but tons of fun to say the least...and yes all 7 gauges are fully fuctional Seven gauges... can you tell us what they all ar...

Nice. What track is that? You sho' are makin' a lot of steam...those safeties are popped 75% of the time...
