Re: Micro Drill
I'm green with envy, as I've never had a sensitive drill, nor have I had an opportunity to acquire one. Harold I could change that for you Harold, how about a nice little Levin micro drill press or maybe a JET (not the overseas JET) jewelers micro drill press? Steve, very nice find. You may find th...

Cost effective machining??
I'm puzzled by what I found while scraping out 5 of my old auto cad 21" monitors. One of the 5 chassis has what looks like a "machined" (burnished?) surface treatment while the other 4 are standard stamped/punched from aluminum sheet. Both sides have the same finish. It has to be cos...

I removed my sheet metal spacer/stiffener in 1999 on a similar lathe, so far no problem.

Re: Power Hack Saw
A couple of comments fwiw. It looks like you may be trying to cut a piece of spring metal in the video, if so, that is a real tuff test for saw blades. It would be nice to slow the saw down so you could better analyze the motion and alignment of the blade/blade frame to the work. Unplug the power an...

Re: My Latest Project - Hydraulic Press
In this case I do not like the use of springs since the pull back is not linear. The counter weights have a uniform pull the entire length of the stoke. F=kX, for a spring, where; F is the force exerted on the spring k is a constant (commonly referred to as the spring constant) and X is the extensi...

A motor wired for 220 will sometimes act that way when fed only 120 volts.

Re: How to Attach 3-Ton Chinese Arbor Press to Stand
Steve, FWIW, Look at the moments created by an operator pulling down at maybe 18" out in front of the press hanging on the handle (maybe even jumping and hanging) countered by the front of a stand where the press extends over the edge. It will tip unless bolted to the floor. I have tiped my pre...

And then there is the table mount I made for my FAMCO arbor press. I just went out and snaped 5 photos but I think this one shows enough that you get the idea.

Re: Common Keyway sizes?
Don't forget about a little lubrication for broaching, sliding contact (back and sides) as well as cutting oil on the face. I use whatever motor oil is handy - much better than dry cutting, I know now and wish I'd never learned that lesson.

Re: Price check on 4' Flor. Shop Lites
If it's posted on the internet it must be true, bull, but you can be sure some will run with it in the absence of reason. Consider the source claiming the info. What agenda might they have in propagating this info. Remember the Jan. 1, 2012 deadline on 100 W light bulbs? Did it happen? I think not, ...
