Re: g-code types

Not sure how to call it. Friend asked which g-code or which machine I have. I have mach3 or emc2. He never heard of them and mentioned Fanuc and I need to know because g codes are different for each machine. I thought it was a basic standard language? I have a Tormach PCNC 1100 with Mach 3 and I us...

Re: Zero in Indiana again

Jeez, I feel for you guys. Just remember when you're outside shoveling snow Al Gore said we are experiencing GLOBAL WARMING . He must be right though, after all by his own admission, he invented the internet. It was only 84 degrees here yesterday. Another day like that and I'll have to break out the...

Re: RC airplanes

All my boats are gas powered. I use 87 octane and remove the ethanon before I put the gas in the gas bags. I can't speak for California, but up here, Alberta, premium gas 93 octane has no ethanol. (Except at Mohawk and Husky stations.) Would this not be a better option? California is so screwed up ...

Re: RC airplanes

ok educate me how do you remove the ethenol?? It's really quite simple. You need 2 gas cans. One with a petcock in a corner on the bottom. Put one gallon of ethanol gas in the 1 1/2 or 2 gallon can with the petcock in the corner. Add 2 cups of water. Ethanol is water soluble. Now, shake the hell out...

Re: RC airplanes

The old fuel combinations were a lot of white gas, (naptha) some methyl alc, and nitomethane, with a percentage of castor oil for lubrication. I would suppose in these more modern times those things have changes some. Point here being that castor oil dries up and oxidizes like a syrup to glue, and ...

Re: RC airplanes

I tried planes back in the early 70's but that proved to be WAY too expensive while I was raising my family. Then I got into RC boats and have never looked back. I sold off all my RC equipment in about 1978 to raise my family and divorce my wife. I finally got back into RC boats in 2002 and have nev...

Re: The cost of stuff...

There should be a club, where codgers can go to create. Lathes and mills are kind of personal, but I would not mind sharing a drill press and a power hack saw. A work bench with a chair and a locker to keep stuff in. We could share the broom.. I bet you would find half the guys just making jigs and...

Re: Manual to CNC Conversion Questions

You need to get good at manual machining before you try CNC machining. CNC is nothing more than a means of machine control. Speed, speeds and setups are the same for both manual and CNC. Personally, I feel CNC is a wonderful tool for the manual machinist. CNC makes machining arcs and angles a breez...
