Re: SMOKEBOX THROTTLE

Well I located the article on the 4 aces smoke box throttle. No mention of the American Throttle Company, and true to form no dimensions of the valve assembly that Roy Johnston built for his model. I wonder if any drawings exist from Johnston's loco build project. A check of the internet does not tu...

Re: SMOKEBOX HROTTLE

Hello "steamingon", I have already looked thru these references (on the internet) before bothering anyone else. A search for throttle, or Roy Johnson's Four Ace's in these referenced sources has not been successful So if any of "you all" know the specific issues of Model Tec then...

Re: NYC Hudson Major Appliance Manufacturer's

Hello John Unfortunately neither of these patents (1801441 and 1753297) pertain to the multi-poppet, multi-port throttle. The poppet valves are operated in sequence as a cam shaft is rotated by the throttle lever system extending back to the cab, I have the illustrations from the American Throttle c...

Re: NYC Hudson Major Appliance Manufacturer's

HELLO OUT THERE. Does anyone have an instruction manual or drawings for the throttle valves made by the American throttle company, New York, N.Y. ! These were a multi-port poppet valve arranged to open sequentially larger poppet valves as the cam lever shaft was rotated. The tell tale is a shaft mou...

SMOKEBOX THROTTLE

I am looking for information on the multi-port, poppet valve throttle original made by the American throttle company.
These were used in the smoke box of superheated locomotives like the Berkshire and the 4-8-4.
Perhaps someone out there can direct me to a source.
An internet search turns up nothing.

Re: Locomotive Beds

Hello again, I have it on good authority from a person I know that he saw a large collection of GCS drawings in cabinets at the St. Louis Museum of Transport. Anyone live in St. Louis? Perhaps they can check into this. I will try a phone call this week and see if I can get anywhere. It would make se...

Re: Locomotive Beds

For quite some time now I have been looking for the whereabouts of the drawings from the former General Steel Casting company. Just this week I made inquiries at the Columbus Castings company which was reputed to have these documents. The manger of their service department was good enough to check w...

BERKSHIRE DRAWINGS

Hello all, Perhaps someone knows where I can find a copy of the Berkshire locomotive bed drawings: locomotive bed 46-11-278 and cylinder detail 31-11-24. I have information that someone has these originals and has loaned them out for microfilming at one time. Trouble it the drawings are very large s...
