Re: marking tools

Machine small pockets into non-critical areas and use coloured epoxy to bond in RFID chips, then fit scanners with alarms to all exits :D Alternatively just inform everyone that unauthorised taking is theft and that they will be dismissed and/or prosecuted if found in unauthorised possession of anyt...

Re: Ball Lead screw interchangeability

The only differences other than screw length might be mountings, which you can obviously machine ;-)
I use CBN inserts to machine hardened ball screws without the need to anneal.

Re: CAD conversation to G-Code

Depending upon part complexity it could be hand coded or you could use CAM.
For someone else to do it for you they would need details of the job material, tooling used, your machine and it's controller to ensure compatible code and the correct feeds & speeds.

Re: titan machinery milling machine defect

The clamping surfaces are ground to where they are unreliable. The clamping surfaces are NOT the ring around the bolt groove, this area has been relieved such that it does not become a clamping surface in order to allow the head to correctly pull down onto the large flat area of the Z axis slide.

Re: Soluble Coolant Oil

There's a massive range, your best bet is to identify a local supplier who isn't tied to just one brand, give them details of your usage and seek their recommendation. I use Blaser Swisslube Synergy 735 for milling and turning and it's excellent, oil free, Ph neutral and low odour but it's not suita...

Re: titan machinery milling machine defect

This is a common defect, and I first came across this on a 12x40 belt drive lathe in 1980. It was the first new lathe I had ever owned and I was proud of it. After using it a while I found out the tailstock and headstock were both pointing up. The cross slide on the tailstock had been machined with...

Re: Mounting an INVERTER

Check the manual but most motor frames run cooler than VFD heat sinks so you'd be unlikely to have an issue unless you're running the motor at 80%+ load permanently.
But you'll get two chumps a minute telling you you can or cannot based on absolutely no experience of running this king of kit! :D

Re: titan machinery milling machine defect

The clamping bolt here will pull that area of the head down against whatever surface is adjacent to the protractor won't it? Dave No, you are getting hung up on the the fastener and not looking at or considering it's function on contact area of the head with the column. Note the thickness of the he...

Re: titan machinery milling machine defect

Having looked at photos of the assembled mill (which would be vital for anyone to reach a decision on this) the assumptions here that the ground surface is a precision location one are at best fanciful, that surface is only there because it's part of the bolt retention groove structure, the rear of ...

I use Blaser Synergy 735 flood coolant for plastics and composites, it's oil free and Ph7.
