Re: Could I get tips on dumpster diving for materials for your build?
The OS for making scrap out of scrap material is just as loud as with 'new' material. I buy my future scrap from McMaster-Carr, MSC, OnLineMetals, etc..

USPS is a mess...
Certainly hope things get better with our mail system in 2021. I ordered a dozen iron wheel castings back on the 9th of Dec. and they are still "in Transit". Tracking them, they seem to bounce around, going from facility to facility very close by and even very often go back to the same fac...

Re: Trying to locate Dave Skagen
Mike,
I sent an email to LE a few weeks ago about those castings (2.5 scale generator) availability and didn't get a response. What is the disposition of LE? Are they active? Should I assume that all is well and send an order and the funds?
Thanks...

In actuality, that is not true unfortunately. I would have purchased them rather than go through this CAD Model process!! bccwood1218 wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 6:40 am Adam Wright has these truck available at http://www.solidesign.bizland.com/ based on the ones used by the East Broad Top.

Re: 2.5" Vulcan Side Frame
What I've found is to never leave a part or portion of a part partially done, or never move on in the assembly before making sure the last part is totally correct and can stand on its own. Problems will compound. This parallels actual manufacturing too and not just working with design software of an...

Re: 2.5
What CAD software are you using? I'm using Kuboteck KeyCreator 9.0. CAD/CAM. Old version but it works very well. I've done many, many CNC machine parts using this software - with Mach3 and the embeded software in a Haas CNC machine too. Also used it for running a Sciaky electron beam welder...wrote...

Re: 2.5" Vulcan Side Frame
This software has no lettering so each letter/number had to be drawn as a mechanical part. One way to avoid this is to do the lettering in another product like Inkscape, which is free and supports saves in svg/dxf. Import the 2d, scale it, position it, extrude it and then combine/merge it. You stil...

Considering passing these solid cad models off to an industrious sort who can/will make castings available. bcBrian Hilgert wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 6:23 am Very nice! Will you be making casting available for purchase? Hint hint.

Re: 2.5" Vulcan Side Frame
Couple more...this is drawn in solids as completely individual parts so can be locally updated. This software has no lettering so each letter/number had to be drawn as a mechanical part. Talk about dark ages...but at this stage I'm used to it and cringe at the thought of learning a new software. The...
