Re: 3" 4 jaw independant chuck(UPDATE)

Well my saga with the chuck has come to fruition It took a little while but to my amazement it went very well. Sars rep. a Brian bent over backward trying to help me. I asked for a replacement instead of refund and he agreed. They sent me the return shipment label so they paid that way. He personall...

Re: turning shafts on an import

Wow never in my 69 yrs of youthful enthusiasm did I expect this to be such an ambitious project, obviously I don't have the knowledge, skill, or tooling to try this. there are other needs for shafts the size that can be done between centers that I can try honing my skills on. I have to thank you guy...

Re: turning shafts on an import

For Carm and others that may be interested here are a couple links to the retail version I have in mind to make it may be interesting to see another hobby which is expensive but I think in the long run machining has it beat. http://www.kingsleynorth.com/skshop/product.php?id=99197&catID=1059 htt...

Re: turning shafts on an import

Grinding and polishing stone requires using water, so they need to be corrosive resistant. Well I have a lathe now and just thought that I should be able to do something like this. .8125 303 stainless is relatively hard to find but I did find some on Amazon and ordered it I am very retired so the wo...

Re: 3" 4 jaw independant chuck

Well to Shars credit today I received the return label usps frb, they were actually very courteous throughout the whole process so far.It maybe it's because of working through Amazon, and to my chagrin after switching the jaws out I tried to make it look and close like it did originally by switching...

Re: 3" 4 jaw independant chuck

I hear what you say BD but unfortunately if they don't agree to it I may be stuck with added postage both ways, I have gone through the channels with Shars and Amazon if it doesn't work I may be stuck with it and chalk it up to experience. I can always write a scathing review on Amazon for what that...

Re: 3" 4 jaw independant chuck

I have notified Amazon about this as I purchased it through them with a Christmas gift certificate, I also sent an email to Shars customer support and placed a call to Shars on Friday. I haven't heard back from them yet but I did call late on Friday near closing time so will give them the benefit of...

3" 4 jaw independant chuck

As you can see from the pic there is a huge gap where one jaw doesn't mesh. This is a cheap Shars brand I didn't expect it to be of high quality but expected more than this. My question how badly will this affect the use of the chuck this is a reversible jaw and the other side fits pretty well http:...

New to posting on the forum

Hi everyone My Name is Ken, I live on Flathead Lake in the N.W. corner of Montana. A few months back I made an impulse buy on a Microlux 7 x14 mini lathe, on craigslist he wanted 500$ for it but I offered 250$ and to my surprise he took it. It came with the tailstock a QC tool post and change gears ...
