Re: Emco-Maier?

Has anybody heard of Emco Maier? I am going to buy a lathe mill combo made by this company. I have been told it is not a 3 in one. It has a mill located in the middle and behind the lathe bed. I am going to pick it up Saturday. When I get it home and cleaned up I can post a picture. I can also tell...

Re: Cannot seem to thread on 44142 - what am I missing?

Hey Folks, I appear to be unable to succesfully cut a thread on my 44142. No matter what I attempt I cannot get the second or third pass to follow the the first cut, and my bit simply chews into the newly born threads. I am attempting a straight 20 TPI cut. Here is my setup: I have replaced the lat...

Maximat V10 Mentor parts

I bought a Maximat V10 Mentor in such an excellent condition that it looks almost new. I have just had to make a backing plate for a 4 jaw chuck that did not come with it. This brought to mind since for the first time I use a 3-in-1's milling head that the "X" axis is controlled by the lea...

Re: irregular cut when turning

Humm, this one I would almost have to see the finish to comment. Finish is controlled by several issues. One is the speed of the spindle, the faster the speed assuming you don't burn your tool the shinier the finish. If the tool has a sharp point can cause a bad finish, tools must have some sort of ...

I have just took a look and what you suggest is possible and it may only require finding a longer timing belt but I did not look in farther detail. I rather make my own holders instead of risking on the integrity of the machine. I have learn thru my 50 + years of dealing with mechanical device and e...

I have just bought a V10 Mentor in almost new condition three weeks ago. I was wondering about how to lock the bed while using the mill and the split nuts was what came to mind since it is the most obvious. What I have discovered is that there are two large Allen head cap screws attached at what the...

I have just bought a Maximat V10 Mentor in almost perfect condition two weeks ago. These machines have been a dream I'd had for many years about owning one,. Since the 1970's when I used to work as a journeyman machinist for Jorgensen Steel and these machines first came to market. I Have a Chinese m...
