Re: At what point is a boiler big enough to be steel instead of copper?
I run it hard. Yes sir, you do. P7084899.jpg Thanks for the picture, John. I remember that run and replay it in my head often. Taking the train from the Berkshire and walking away with the Chiggen Little was awesome. I asked to use the train and was told, sure, if you can pull it. Barry didn't real...

In California:
Golden Gate Live Steamers outside of San Francisco has a really nice 4 3/4', 3 1/2", and 2 1/2" elevated track.
Jack Bodenman's private track in Southern California is also first rate.

Re: Ever get teased for being a live steamer?
Yep. I learned in school a long time ago to keep my hobby private. I have continued that in my work life and don't regret it. Even adults don't understand because they most likely have never made (or repaired) anything themselves.

I've seen 20' on my home track, but 25 would be better. Anything 18' and under just does not work.

Re: 1" Inch Scale Riding Car/Tender Trucks
I’ve used Nelson Gray trucks for 35+ years. I’m not a light fellow and they are still performing flawlessly. I am also still using the trucks that Francis Moseley built back in the 60’s with no problem. They will last just fine for you. And since the design is the same, you can change them out forev...

On my water pump, I used the brown paper bag method with oil. Worked great. I love the bill method. I’m going t...
