Re: VFD or DC

I bought a 2HP DC motor and an electronic controller for a wood lathe 25+ years ago and it cost me about $800 at that time. As the speed is reduced so is the torque. I could stop it by hand at low rpm and then a little fuse in the controller pops. After I had my setup a friend showed me a 1HP AC mot...

Re: Sizing a QCTP

My G4003G is about 1.25 from the top of the compound to the centre line and the tool post measurements that it came with correspond to the BXA/ 200 series tool posts.

Re: cutting 3-pitch square thread

Issue 171 (Dec. 2010) of Model Engineers' Workshop, pages 48 thru 51 has an article about square, Acme and multiple start threads. Information on the calculations for the grind angles are in it.

Re: Does this only happen to me??

When I was an aircraft mechanic working late at night, I would need a tool, so down the 14' ladder I would go. When I got to my tool box I would stare into it and for the life of me not remember what I needed. Back up that 14' ladder to see what I needed and then go back down again. Sometimes the cy...

Yup! Only you.

Nah we all have our bouts of bench blindness. You will probably discover that you did the unthinkable and it's on the part. Sitting there like a little c-clamp, laughing at you!

Re: Jet Mill - do I or don't I

For rust removal, my vote goes to Evapo-Rust or similar product. It only takes out the rust and not the parent metal.

If machines are hard to come by like they are in this area then get it. Always willing to help you spend your money. :)
