Re: WTB: RRSC Caboose Markers
I've just heard lots of stories that basically you can't get parts/replies from RRSC, which is why I made the FAM suggestion.

It also appears to have engine brakes, which I believe the original ones did not. might be wrong.

Re: K-36 / 37 Lead Truck Part Drawings
Correct, but just because the designs are the same, still doesn't mean the dimensions are the same. I mean maybe they are but it'd be safer to bet they aren't.
There are so many locomotive design parts that look the same, or are the same design but the dimensions tweaked a bit.

Re: K-36 / 37 Lead Truck Part Drawings
Didn't someone build a couple 2.5 in scale K36s? Maybe they could be reached with drawings. Somehow I doubt the dimensions are the same between the mallet and k36 lead truck, but perhaps very similar designs.

Re: Turbulators on propane boiler
for many larger 7.5 gauge locomotives, pacifics, atlantics, hudsons, mikados etc, a dry stack is rarely hard to achieve unless the pressure is low or just starting out etc.

Re: Turbulators on propane boiler
I too would be interested in the effect of the superheating on the slide valves. How do you install/remove the superheater coil? I'm guessing this is strictly a boiler off exercise. I guess also the firebox is pretty full when you have the arch and superheater installed. Would be really interesting ...

Re: Eccentric Straps
ya, that'd be a PIA. But still think a easily lubricated bushing setup allows at least for pretty easy replacement

Re: Eccentric Straps
wouldn't the best long term wear strategy for Stephenson be to have hardened eccentrics with some sort of replaceable bushing between it and the eccentric strap? then of course a grease fitting or oil hole

Re: Gauging interest
E&S lines made the F7 and either a Gp7 or gp9. The early ones had a lighter duty hydraulic system and a 5.5 engine. The later engines, had a V twin and I'm 90% sure slightly heavier duty cooling/hydraulics. They were available in A/B units, slugs. Remember seeing a ABBA or similar set in Rio gra...

Franklin Automatic Machine - they advertise in Live Steam. I'd order some from him.
