Re: Railroad Warehouse 2.8.2 Mikado Logger Build

Russ,
Is the powder coat finish smooth enough so that the tender bottom angles and bottom plate sit flush with no gaps?

I was thinking it was a little pebbly.

Thanks,
Brian

Re: Pennsy headlight blueprint ?

Hi Glenn,
If you know the lamp style or base type go to eBay and type that in. I’ve found several suppliers for the screw in size incandescent lamps common on 1-1/2” locomotives.

No reason they won’t work for led’s.

Take care,
Brian

Re: Paint question

Topcoat the red oxide with a satin or gloss clear. Paint your mask, then a seal coat of satin or gloss clear.

For wood cars I use Spar Urethane in rattle cans.

I’ve used it on steel cars too.

Re: N&W S1a Project - Tender Build

The eye bolts are for chains to “somewhat” keep the trucks in position in the event of a derailment. The other end attached to the tender frame, or in the case of passenger cars, to their frames.

Amazing work building these from stock.

Allen Models website

I tried opening Allen Models website on several page links and keep getting the 404 error.

Is anyone else having problems?
Tks,

Painted shut.

You were right on. Pull the ring, twist vertical, then pry the door out and down.

Thank you Sir!

Still love to know who sold these.

I need to look again. It just doesn’t seem clear. The ring has a spring behind the inside frame.

Re: 1-1/2” scale headlight ID.

Hi Charles!
I’m with ya!
Problem is, the hinged portion is larger than the outside housing. So, hinged to the inside??

Thus, the puzzle.

Perhaps a Sunbeam prototype.

1-1/2” scale headlight ID.

Any idea whose headlight this is? I can’t figure out how to access the lighted number boards.

The reflector appears to have been a turning that was plated. It’s really heavy. 6.3 volt 25 amp screw in bulbs.

One more observation on the 1838. When the feedwater heaters were installed the left side injector was removed. Note 1838 has an injector installed after the feedwater heater was removed.

Re: Help identify a part M-21 Mogul

Replying to an old post, regarding feedwater heaters. Discussing the T&NO C-9’s with my friend Joe Dale Morris. He said sometime early on, management decided that feedwater heaters should be applied to locomotives, and the C-9’s specifically. To do that, they moved the air compressors to the eng...
