go on line to places like Gun Parts and order a couple of box magazine springs. I use the springs out of 303 British SMLE mags. You can cut one in half for short spaces.

Before doing any spring work, if the trigger face has ridges on the face polish it smooth and round it slightly so no sharp edges. It will make a world of difference on how smooth the action works. I use Cratex rubber wheels and polish to a mirror finish. Then you can work on springs.

Just from the looks of that brush I suspect the armature is shorted. When running does it pull a ring of sparks around the commutator? I would have a motor shop check the armature for shorts before spending too much time on trying to re-face the brush. Just my opinion others may vary

What if........you cut the blanks 8 inches long and bend them, make a fixture for the saw and trim them to the correct lenght once bent?

Steamin 10 The whole idea was to see if they will fail at some point. It started as an admonishment from me to clean and take care of them properly then morphed into, lets see just how long they will function. As seen in southeast Asia mud water and such did not seem to effect them much. As I recall...

Both of my sons have SKS's one is Russian and the other Chinese (the guns). for the past 10 years they have been shooting them with every kind of ammo that can be had and some are extremely dirty. As an experiment neither have been cleaned or oiled and as yet both still function fine. I would ventur...
