Re: One Type of Air Connector Better Than Others?
I prefer the Milton V series, which have a high flow compared to others. Also compatible with most everything, but best if you use the V series connectors on both side so that you have the max flow. Just push together, and easily decoupled under pressure. Most of my hose is 3/8 with the 1/4 NPT end...

Re: Repair cast aluminum trucks?
I picked up some of those Bernz-O-Matic aluminum brazing rods and their mapp torch, not having great luck so far. Either I'm not getting it hot enough or I need flux to help it penetrate. It appears to be sticking to the edges of the joint but when I remove the clamp and can see a side profile I see...

Repair cast aluminum trucks?
I recently bought some trucks off DLS that ended up damaged in shipment. One of the "ears" that retains the sideframe at the end of the bolster was broken off. Looking into shipper claims at this point, but trying to determine if it's repairable (preferrable) and what a suitable cost to cl...

WD40 seems to work pretty decent for removing that red grease.

Re: Solder is too Complicated for Me
Yeah, don't spare the heat. I like a good temperature-controlled iron like a Hakko FX888D or Weller WES51 / WESD51. I usually work with it around 700 degrees for electronics work.

Re: Solid State Drives for Computers
I have them in both my main computers... couple years ago I built a new desktop PC, stuck an Intel 335 SSD in it... wow! So when I bought a secondhand laptop a few months later, I chose one with an SSD (I forget what make/model that drive is). Neither machine is "latest greatest", but they...

Nice Acer.
^^ My HF cheapie pales in comparison. But I figure it's better than no mill.

Re: GE 23 ton boxcab in 7.5" gauge / 1.5" scale
Ok, it's been a while... busy times lately but getting back into it.
Today while sitting on my butt recovering from oral surgery I went a little crazy on Amazon and an online metal supplier. Ordered sprockets, chain, and some 1/2 and 1/4 inch steel plate to build the chassis. It's getting underway!

Re: Enco 25% and free freight 2/29 only
Codes originally posted still work, apparently. Try it if you want. I almost bought an arbor press, but I really should try to clean the garage a bit more before piling more crap in it.
