Re: unique water pump
You are forgetting something. Something that only a few people research and realize exists. Something that Nicola Tesla called radient energy. It took me awhile to figure out what it is and how it works, but I think I have a pretty good idea now. And while the laws of physics are true, they are base...

Re: Induction heating/furnace
Im sure yer aware that foundry floors should not be concrete. Molten metal and concrete don't mix very well I've heard, splatters bad I guess. A layer of leveled packed clay in the pouring area would work. Long as it's dry enough, when spilling molten metal on it it won't do anything. I didn't use c...

unique water pump
found an interesting design for a water pump, supposed to deliver plenty of volume and pressure with very little power consumption, the figure I can find is 30 GPM at 250 psi with 250 watt input. The resulting water flow can be used to generate power with a pelton turbine and end up with a good bit ...

Re: Foundry Question
I was in Newnan once, sawmilling over in AL and needed a part from woodmizer south so drove over and picked it up. Oops, that was 24 years ago. Time sure flies. The truck I was driving at the time is now retired from the road, and converted to steam power. So what kind/size of part is needed? I have...

Re: Induction heating/furnace
Back in '62 they didn't have high power transistors, they had just begun to experiment with silicon transistors then, now they are common and not too expensive. I got a few next door to free from old fork lifts at the scrap yard. I wonder if the higher frequency would be more efficient. I'm sure the...

Induction heating/furnace
It seems a home made induction furnace might be well within the scope of home construction. Details found at http://www.richieburnett.co.uk/indheat.html That's just the basic unit explained without the refractory and cooling. In practice one would pump coolant through the copper pipe and have it emb...

Re: THE LAST TWO DAYS PRODUCTION PART 2
Good work. I much prefer hands on machine work. But I never had need of mass part duplication either, if I did then the CNC would be the way to go. As it is my machine inventory is ancient, from 1800's likely for the first lathe I got, (picked it up in New Jersey for $400 a few years ago) WWII era o...

Re: How do you guys feel about the "Just get it done" attitude?
depends on what it is. Some things are ok sloppy, some need precision. One I did, making a brass bushing for a friends dozer idler wheel, ended up looser fit than I'd planned, but being it runs in an oil bath I decided the extra space would just let oil get in better so let it go, it ran a couple ye...

Re: Let's fill in the gaps (Future Injectors)
I could use one of the large ones as well, alternative to the pressure washer pump run off the engine with auto air conditioner clutch. (ofeldt watertube boiler and westinghouse high speed enclosed crank engine.) I have electric signals from modified spark plug water level sensors to control water l...

Re: Spark arrester design
Been thinking about the same thing. Need one for the ofeldt boiler on the 4x4 truck so I'm not starting fires in the woods this fall when I start running it for firewood gathering, wood fired boiler with blower draft. I have a sheet of what looks like air filter screen metal 0.09" thick with 1/...

kinitic log splitter
Need to process firewood for biochar in quantity for agriculture development, (divert some for foundry fuel on occasion) I reworked my hydraulic splitter last spring, took it from horizontal to tilt up vertical and added a lift cylinder. But with due consideration I find a better option, the kinetic...
