Re: Band Saw Blade
I order band saw blades from McMaster-Carr, I don't have a blade welder. What ever brands they sent over the years have been excellent.

Re: Tig or Mig cast aluminum??
I just read your other post about getting back into welding. Hope your eyesight situation improves. From what I've read the 4943 is not widely available due to minimum orders (100lbs ?) on the suppliers end. LWS may or may not have it available. So that translates to expensive. I'll most likely orde...

Re: Tig or Mig cast aluminum??
You could weld it either way, MIG or TIG. Here I would preheat and TIG something like that because I can control it better and get a neat weld on the first go around. I use the spool gun when I need production/speed where lots of welds are involved and super nice TIG welds are a waste of time, usual...

Re: electroless nickel plating
I don't know anything about the process. Are the chemicals or ingredients common or easy to obtain? Be interesting to know the process and what's involved, especially if the materials could be rounded up at less cost than one of those kits. I like nickel plate, keep us posted.

Re: Do HVLP Paint Guns Clog Between Coats?
Everyone thinks painting is easy, but it's one of the hardest things to do right. They think it's easy because they do a really crappy job. I've been painting for about 44 years, a lot of changes in materials and equipment, and I think its getting harder  . Kind of like baking (vs cooking); yo...

Re: Do HVLP Paint Guns Clog Between Coats?
Urethane. I could have gotten a shop to do it for under a hundred bucks, but I am determined. Well that's the spirit and you will learn something new. One of the problems is getting all the right materials and having to buy more that you actually need. Mind the pot life on the primer after you acti...

Re: Do HVLP Paint Guns Clog Between Coats?
I agree, don't use the rattle can primer. I use epoxy primer, works great on fiberglass. The one I like is from Southern Polyurethanes: http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/. No affiliation with the co. just good material at a reasonable cost.

No, I'm referring to the mesh. The filters they sent will likely be fine.
