Re: Milling Machine: Bridgeport BR2JPFLC up for auction

I went over to the auction warehouse and inspected this machine. It does have serious rust on the table top, thou not pitted, but the ways seem to have been protected by some light oil and under the table, etc.. The control cranks and handles have heavy rust. However, nothing is totally frozen. (I r...

Re: Heavy fab. work/weld table height?

Well, thought I would update this post. I bid a lot higher than I should have and still didn't get it, at $970. plus fees and taxes. Always kinda feel bad for the guy who does get it cause, when it ends up with just me and him for the last few hundred bucks. But that is the way auctions go. I can bu...

Re: Metal Lathe: Clausing Colchester 15 up for Auction

That has been my experience with the machines on Governmentliquidation.com. That is the federal/military auction agent. The seem to solvent clean or steam clean all exterior surfaces, which removes any grease or oil that might provides some degree of protection. It all depends on how much work you w...

Metal Lathe: Clausing Colchester 15 up for Auction

Found this on PublicSurplusAuction.com fpr WA state agencies. Looks like another school district can't get kids intereseted in anything that isn't run by a computer. http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/all,wa/auction/view?auc=1168232 The picture speak for themselves and if your not turned off by rust, ...

Milling Machine: Bridgeport BR2JPFLC up for auction

I just checked the WA PublicSurplus.com auction for WA and came acrossed this machine. Since I am happy with my current milling setup I thought I would let other know about this one. http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/all,wa/auction/view?auc=1168230 It looks like it is a variable speed, (FWIW?), OEM p...

Re: Heavy fab. work/weld table height?

This would be nice! With a sturdy very heavy table, frame and quadrant gear. Plus it is motor driven. I can't afford it for my "hobby" shop but someone might like to look it over. It is in the WA PublicSurplus.com auction here in the Olympia area. http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/all,wa/au...

Connecticut mod. #4922 Brake

I'm looking at this brake at online auction and they don't indicate the capacity. From the model number, 4922, could I assume it to be 49" X 22 ga. ?? Looks about right from the pictures. It is a bench top model.

Re: Heavy fab. work/weld table height?

Welcome !!! I think you'll find this is a much more welcoming -- and much more polite -- forum. One very minor comment -- the guys who taught me the little bit of blacksmithing tech that I have, all agreed that the face of the anvil should be about two or three inches lower than the knuckles of you...

Re: Canedy-Otto drill press (auction Score!)

I finally got back to this DP project. Finished the cleaning.. Mostly pumping the water and oily sludge out of the base gutters and Tee slots. Not clean enough for painting but doubt I will ever repaint the base since I expect it will fill up with my own shavings and cutting oil. It doesn't really h...

Re: Heavy fab. work/weld table height?

Yes, I like Frosted Flakes table. We had this in the heavy fab and pipe shops in the navy with a variety of stakes and forming mandrels. Never did anything on the steel deck because of heat transfer from welding thing to or close to the deck surface. For large layouts in the pipe shop we had a "...

Re: Canedy-Otto drill press (auction Score!)

Kinda OT, but, I was going to post some more pictures but the board is telling me "the board attachement quota has been reached" not sure if it is my quota for this post topic or my quota for all my posts. Hmmmm! I tried deleting pictures from my old post topics but didn't change things. ...

Re: Canedy-Otto drill press (auction Score!)

I got the DP off the truck a set it on level ground behind my shop and began cleaning and inspecting. The DP is fully complete and everything seems to operate. The back gear engagement fork was set in and it appears it had been in back gear reduction for many years because I was almost frozen in pla...
