Mechanical oiler check valve suppliers?

Hi,

Are there any suppliers for lubricator check valves. I was looking at the American Model Engineering web site and see they were not listed. I bought some a couple years back from them. I did not try to contact due to the current owners medical issues.

Re: Machining side rods for a 1.5" scale 2-8-0

I have found that if you Loctite the bushings in the center dimension dose not move since they are a slip fit before applying the retaining compound. I have also had issues with the inside of bushing getting slightly smaller when pressed in. This was very noticeable when I made some Delrin bushings....

My Allen 10 wheeler called for 0.005" clearance for cast iron cylinders and bronze (red brass?) pistons.

An easy way to post a sketch is take a picture of it with phone, resize the number of pixles with an app called "resize photo" and just add the photo file to your post.

Re: slide valves very hard to move.

Yes it will take a lot force to move the valve, basically the area of the valve times pressure times the coefficient of static friction. The packing gland will also add additional friction as well. Most new steam engines I have built will run on under 20 psi air under no load. Once it is started wit...

Re: Reshaping Allen Models Side Rods?

The Allen ten wheeler side rod castings that came with my kit years ago were very brittle and warped. I tried to straighten one and it snapped. I made mine from 6061 T6 aluminum bar stock.

I would be concerned the existing cast material may warp and not be capable to bend back flat.

Re: Smoke box throttle

Might be the valve stem is corroded or needs lubricicarion in the packing region.

Re: My lathe is older than dirt

My 9" South Bend S/N dates it to 1928. It has the 1 1/2" -8 spindle as well, but a much heavier bed like the 10" lathes of the eara.
