Send these guys a e-mail or search their website for the information buried there. Tons of great information and guaranteed they have worked on them before. They are real expensive if you need to buy parts or have service done but at least have a great reputation.

Re: Bought a Hardinge Sjogren No2 D1-4
Seat of the pants eBay sell prices after following them for years trying to decide if I wanted one was: 2J around $300 5C around $600 Yes twice as much for the 5C, everyone has 5C stuff and no feels like trying to go find a full set of 2J even though functionally they are more useful. This assumes a...

Re: vises ?
On the subject. This just arrived today for the new mill. New Kurt DX6 small 002.jpg Haven't had a chance to try it yet because I have only had it for a few hours and the mill it is going on isn't supposed to show for a few weeks. Not really the correct vise for the new mill but tooling up is costin...

www.incfile.com, make an LLC, stop worrying and make money. In CA there is a Franchise Tax of $800 annually. Much cheaper than getting sued. Or having to worry about getting sued.

Diametral (imperial) and Module (metric) are for cutting worm shafts. So if you are going to turn worm gear shafts then you would absolutely need them. Personally I would wait until the job comes along that you need them then buy the one you need. I see lots of old equipment that use worm shafts to ...

Re: Horizontal milling operations -Burke #4
Not familiar with the Burke #4 but I do have a horizontal mill. Not sure I understand exactly what the issue is. Since you can run the spindle either direction, feed the table either direction and turn a standard milling cutter or slab mill to face either direction there really is no "right&quo...

Re: Cincy Mill
I emailed Bob Rowe, he doesn't have parts for the Cincinnati Toolmasters--does have 2 Toolmasters for sale---but I sort of got the impression that the Toolmasters he sells are a brand name of "Toolmaster", rather than a model name of a Cincinnati Mill---but, I could be wrong.Nice guy thou...

Re: Cheap face mills
I have a 2.5" Toolmex face mill that uses 5 SEHT type carbide inserts as I recall. It does like higher speeds. Up around 1000 rpm. It does throw dark blue chips that melt things so I had to make some walls for when I use it. I have not had luck with buying cheap small insert face mills because ...

Re: Unknown milling machine! Help me to recognize it!
The vertical head is a Universal Spiral Milling Attachment. Used mostly for cutting bevel gears or spiral gears if you have a universal dividing head. They run at spindle speed. No reason to run involute gear cutters any faster. The only head that is over spindle speed is the high speed vertical hea...

Re: 2 Pc. MILLING VISE
I went down and looked for the vises. Found he had a number of them. There were three of the Ellis 8" vises I was looking for. Unfortunately they didn't have the fixed jaw parts with them. I wasn't too worried as I can just use an angle plate or even use two opposing each other. I am going to u...

Re: File sharpening
Or you can just send them to these guys. They will do a lot better job than you can at home and if I am reading the price sheet right it will be pretty darn cheap to boot.
