Re: Structural Steel Pipe Questions

Given what you just said about rigidity you could use almost any thing including a welded or bolted triangular or square truss, I would head down to your local scrapper and look at everything they have with an open mind. Maybe you'll spot an old cast iron machine base.

Re: Structural Steel Pipe Questions

Have you considered looking for the square or rectangular steel tubing material used in buildings etc.? Might be easier to find some locally at a fabricator or scrap yard.

Torch Noble endeavour. I think it might be better to raise some cash and approach Lee Valley at the corporate level and tell them what you want the tools for and they might help you out. No guarantees but they might surprise you. I have these braces and they are decent tools. http://www.leevalley.co...

Re: Question about aligning mill head

Put a magnetic base and indicator on the table with the tip on the side of the bar. Run the table side to side in the X direction and adjust the head rotation until the indicator...

I has always been my contention that, "TO BE GOOD ON A CNC, YOU NEED AT LEAST 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE ON A MANUAL MACHINE". As an inspector (unfortunately without a machining background) working with the end results of CNC operators and machinists, I would have to agree with you in most insta...

Re: Drill-Driver Batteries

Because of the reasons you have alluded to I do not have a cordless anything in the shop. My Milwaukee drill and screw gun are both 30 years old and always work when needed. If I was working in the trades I would have cordless tools, but for occasional home use they are an environmental waste in my ...
