Lathe tooling?
As I start on the stand for my recently purchased BusyBee DF1224g,the question of tooling accessories rears it's expensive head. I got a 8" 3jaw,a couple of dead centers and a Jacobs chuck with the lathe. From the mill/drill a 8" 4jaw , and a 6" two piece jawed 3jaw, both without a ba...

Re: Cost vs Accuracy when "modest" accuracy is required
A combination set is more of a millwright's tool, than a machinist's. In late '80s I paid $125 for a Mitutoyo, better and less expensive than a Starrett, a few years later I felt it was too good for the place I was working and bought a Chinese set at $50.I thought that was a good deal.

Even in Stanley's hayday ,the levels on squares were a joke. As in don't take them seriously.

Re: Boyar Schultz 612
There are guys who have used SGs, who know much more than me but just bought an '68 6x12 Delta Toolmaker when our mill shut down. The Delta is a '30s design and is good maybe to 1/2 a thou. I read up on the little dear, the motor and pulley are balanced together, the spindle is balanced and the arbo...

I think you might have Parker Hale mixed up with Interarms, on that Spanish connection. The later Interarms were Zastava made.

Re: spindle nose on a older Busy Bee DF1224g
Glenn, thanks for the answer. So it's half DIN 800 M60 and 2 1/4" x 8tpi,that was sweet of them. It's been 30 years since I ran a lathe, and that was only at pre-app school when I changed trades. I went on to the millwrighting side. I talked to the tech at Busy Bee, no parts, the factory isn't ...

spindle nose on a older Busy Bee DF1224g
I have '91 Busy Bee DF1224g, likely the same as a Grizzly of that vintage, I took the chuck off to check the measurement of the spindle nose thread .I got odd ball number 2.4xx"something,switched over to metric, Bingo, 60mm. But the threads are bigger than my 3mm thread gage ??? What did they d...

Re: Can These Dry Bones Live? Belt Sander Deal
I worked for awhile in a machine shop, it was surprising how much "machining" was done on a Delta 6"x48"/12". I have Busy Bee, a Canadian Grizzly, 6x48/9. I was holding out for a Delta with nice cast iron tables but found a used one for $100. I'm keeping this one, crappy sin...

Re: Using a mill to inlet?
I've done 2 or 3 semis already by hand, I would finish all stocks that way. There is a saying" Little mistakes slowly". But the hogging out, would be machine work. I was thinking of using a big plunge router, a jig, and templates. The templates would be slow work with a file. I have Mauser...

Re: Lyndex 100 collets
Yes, that looks like them. This is quite a learning experience, simple things like collets .Looking at them, I would think they would work better than end mill holders.
I'm thrilled to get this mill/drill, a RF-45, I must have at least half a dozen projects for it.
