Re: Shop Task 3in1 machines Looking for fellow Shoptask own
Goes beyond stains. Gouges and ridges at the very least that catch on the pulley sprocket as it transitions. I can catch a finger nail on it and can feel it as a ridge inside the shaft as it catches the bolt. I would prefer to replace it while this is apart if I can get the piece . http://www.larges...

Re: Shop Task 3in1 machines Looking for fellow Shoptask own
Didn't fix the problem. The bearings in the spindle seem to be binding. When I removed the spindle assembly, I noted that there are stress fractures in the 6-flute spline shaft. I just hope I can get a replacement for that now. http://www.largescaleonline.com/eimages/lsolpics/Team_Member_Pics...

Re: Shop Task 3in1 machines Looking for fellow Shoptask own
Well there is no joy in Mudville. :( After milling for a while, the power feed on the Z-axis decided to start binding even though it is not being used (probably due to heat) and this stalls the motor. I removed the belt for the Z-axis power feed and this seems to have taken care of the binding, thou...

Re: My First G-code/CNC
Huh? Maybe you are missing the concept of MODALITY. :o I fully understand the concept. As I said, the code is produced by the software and certainly I could remove the redundancy if I needed to save space. But it would take me more time to go through and remove it than it would add to the run-time ...

Re: Shop Task 3in1 machines Looking for fellow Shoptask own
I recently got a Tri-Power that was an unused barn find. I cleaned it up, and it took a bit to get it sorted out, but I think (hope) things are good now. The machine is full CNC with the Jenix DRO. It also has full power feed on all three axis. Because the scales are (were) so far off from the facto...

Re: My First G-code/CNC
I recognize that there is a lot of redundancy and wasted code, but the simplicity of the G-simple program trumps all of that and I can always go back and edit the code. To make the code you see, once I got everything figured out (e.g., how to assign the tools and tool holder etc. which took most of ...

Re: My First G-code/CNC
Thanks. I told the program that it was 1.2 Case carburizing steel which was the only material listed for that tool in their library. G-simple includes aluminum, but not wood. I used a 3/8" endmill. Their sample library 3/8" tool, that I used for the simulation, is not intended for aluminum...

The code. My First G-code/CNC
This shows a billet aluminum spacer that I devised for an alternator bracket that I invented. I have a guy turn these out for me on a Fadal 4020. The photos also show one that I did out of a 2"x4" on my ShopMaster that I programmed using the G-simple software with the G-code slightly modif...

Re: 3-in-1 selection.
Yes looks great. But while of American design, it is of Chinese construction and I've had to go though a whole lot to get it to a point where I can finally use it. I had to do a lot to get it to where it should have been from the factory. Just a couple things here, Every freekin' bolt was loose and ...
