Re Russ's boat
He brought it buy the PVLS summer meet, it is very well done. It is a real bueaty. The olny issue he had ovserved about the set up was he had confused the throtle valve wheel with the steering wheel a time or two.

Hey, dry cotton is a resonable insulator, but the moment it gets damp it is very poor. It is acutally possible to get a lot more heat loss through wet wicking insulation then on a bare pipe that the mositiure drips off of. This is form real engineering experance. are turbulators used with coal fired at all?

Any usefull coolant methods for the grinders?
Hey I have just been taking it slow and grinding 1/2 mill or less per pass with out coolant. But I realize a lot of things need to be cooled and it would greatly improve accurcy and such to keep everthing at near room temperature. You could always make them the old fashioned way with with anvil and forge form square rod stock. LOL. You might try looking for horse shoeing suplies, they use square nails there and with a little grinding you might get a good loing spike out them. Thanks for the info about the cut off blade
I was not aware they were made for that machine spindle size, It looks like a very cost efective additon for use on the surface grinder.

The only give away that it's a model are the foot pegs and seat pad on the tender. I only hope to get an engine finshied so nice some day.

I seen add, but can not rember where
I know a saw an add for both a complet tool and two tools. The single tool was heavy duty lathes and the tow tool set was for lighter duty lathes and did the tread side with one bit and the flange side of the wheel with the second bit.

I had the same question and got no better anser then the one ones you recived.
If you find out what is the most popular amoung fitting suppliers in the US, will you please post it.
Maybe a letter to Live Stram magazine would get some reply. or get them to do a survey of supliers.
