I would use the 7018 before I chose 6010, but I have not built any race cars or dune buggies. The 7018 provides a more ductile and malleable weld, than the 6010. But if you are welding down hand it is much easier to use the 6010. There is less slag with the 6010 rod and much easier to push the slag out of the way with that rod than a 7018. If I was to do t with the 7018 rod I would try and do my welds in the horizontal position as much as possible, this allows the slag to run down and not into the weld like would happen with down hand and is considered a structural weld compared to the down hand. As well you don't have the heat build up in the weld as you would going up hand. But you do have to watch for undercut on your top edge.

To come at this from a slightly different angle. If you are setup to braze the frame, could you Oxy fuel weld the frame together? No brass involved there.
