Dang it Russ, we have some of those gloves here! Bought 'em for the wife to use with the grill. It never occurred to me to try them for welding... duh!

Thanks,
Pete

The glove tips are surprising. Up until now, I have been told that you absolutely have to have a thin left glove. I never thought anyone would recommend a heavier welding glove or a barbecue glove. I'm ordering one to try out.

I have thick MIG gloves, but I didn't bother trying to feed filler with them.

As for 6 to 8 inches of filler, I was doing more like 2.5. Perhaps I should increase that.

Steve, if there is one thing you must do it is to take all the advise you're going to hear, on any subject, as advise. NOT always absolutes!

If your hand is too hot... get it the hell away from the fire!! If the glove isn't insulating enough then get one that will.

Experiment!!!! Find what works for YOU.
