homemade generator/welder plans needed

Post by rommel »

Anyone have a good link where I can find detailed plans on how to build an engine driven generator welder? I can't bring myself to drop 2K on one and would like to make it if at all possible. Thanks

If you could find one of the old electric motor driven generator welders. You might could put a gas motor on it and make it work just about any manufacturing plant in the past had several of them for mantance. So there are some still around usually dirt cheap at auctions 50.00 or less since everybody has gone to wire machines or newer types of welders. The old Hobart machine I have has a 20hp electric motor on it.You would proubly need at least a 30 or40 hp gas engine to power it.I have seen ads where you could use a big truck alternator to weld also might have been Popular Machanics? To far in the past dont really remember. My .02 Clark
