Grizzly Pan-box breaks-any of these worth consideration?

Post by dpage »

a brief search didn't bring anything of real value on the subject, so
Can anyone here offer info from experience on any of the following Grizzly pan/box brakes?

http://www.grizzly.com/products/G5769
$575 + $85 shpg 365 shpg wt.

http://images.grizzly.com/grizzlycom/pi ... /g0578.gif
$1250 + $135 shpg 740 shpg wt.

http://www.grizzly.com/products/G0542
$1595 + $225 shpg 1270 shpg wt.

I want to be able to do at least 16 ga. bending and pan/boxes.

It seems a lot of these brakes are OVERRATED from several comments made here, so question the 16 ga rating on the 5769.

It seems that a pan/box brake will do regualr bending as in a brake but visa-versa isn't true- thus the idea behind buying pan/box.

I live in an area (NM) where used American is practically impossible to get, and shipping from far away is cost prohibitive.

I am kinda leaning towared the 0578 since my shop space is somewhat limited and looks like it could be fitted to a mobile base and be functional even if i had to add some weight on the low end.

Any experience with these machines that can be shared would be appreciated. Better machines, bang for the buck etc.?

I have a 4' 16ga. Griz. box and pan and it does what it says it is suppose to do. I push it but don't abuse it. I'm very happy with it.
