core pin in die casting ???

Re: core pin in die casting ???
Putting a steel bushing into an injection mold is no real issue. Only word of caution is to run the end of the inserted bushing against a spring loaded plunger. The clamping force on the die will either crush the bushing, damage the mold or hold the mold slightly open if the busing runs long. I had an experience where a molding house was inserting threaded bushings into a plastic part and all the threads had to be chased after molding. The problem was that the bushings ran slightly long and the clamping force of the mold crushed the length of the bushings enough to change the thread pitch enough that it wouldn't fit a mating stud.
